Chistian Gun Owner updates

Rifle And Shotgun Articles

While people have a tendency to seek out the CGO site for handgun reviews and advice, we shoot quite a few long guns. Some of our favorites are listed and reviewed in the articles linked to below.

Rifles

Ruger AR-556 Rifle - Model 8500: While my natural gravitation toward, and enthusiasm over handguns keeps my attention off of rifles, I decided I needed one ...... just because. Actually, I bought it before the 2016 election because I didn't have an AR. It has turned out to be one of the best buys I've made in a new production firearm.

Marlin 917 topped by a BSA Sweet 17 scope may turn in to a new addiction within my hobby. Long a handgun enthusiast, I'm beginning to spend more and more time with long guns. This little tack driver takes me one step closer to becoming financially insolvent from too much gun ownership.

The Remington 700 ADL: From the most popular line of rifles ever developed, accuracy, durability, and versatility, all for under $500. My Remington 700 .270 caliber range report.

The SKS Carbine military surplus rifle is a gun that can be bought and fed guilt free. With the cost of most good ones under $200 and ammo cheap, the SKS is the answer for anyone with an itch to shoot some cans, critters or zombies.

The Remington 700 VL SS Varmint Rifle had that effect on me, that makes it just roll over and over in my mind after the first time I saw it. Having developed a liking for relatively small, fast moving bullets and low recoil rifles, when I saw the VL SS for the first time I think I salivated over it. Not the caliber or the potential for accuracy, but the fact that it looked so stinking cool.

The Remington R-15 was the AR type rifle I settled on after the effects of the Obama election had worn off. Now that .223 ammo is back on shelves at reasonable prices, I decided to take the plunge into the world of the AR. The R-15 has proven to be a good choice.

Henry Lever Action 22 Rifle: A review of one of the finest production .22s available today.

Shotguns

The Mossberg 500 Shotgun: While I don't own or use many long guns, I do own and use a Mossberg 500 pump 12 gauge shotgun. And while my preference is handgun shooting, I love to shoot sporting clays with my Mossberg. This is a great gun at a price that can't be beat.

The Maverick 12 guage shotgun: Dependable, fun, effective and inexpensive, the Maverick with an 18 inch barrel makes a great fun shooter, that is also a devastatingly effective home defense gun.
