The 232 is indeed a large weapon for the cartrifge it fires. Have you considered the Sig 229 in either 9mm or .40? The size is only slightly larger and the effectiveness of the cartridge is much greater. If you are of a large stature I don't think you'd notice the difference but Sig also makes a single stack in .40, 9, and .357Sig that would be a little thinner.
