virgin at .45
by: Anonymous

i used to have the taurus pt92. great gun. no complaints except for the thick grip. had it for ten years. never had a reason to buy another pistol. made an exception with the firestorm commander .45. never had a .45 before. friends been telling me how good the gun is and inexpensive to boot. always liked the grip of a 1911. not too big and not too small. just enough for my hands. weight, though heavy, is good. like 'em heavy enough for stability. i feel like shooting a toy gun when i grip a polymer pistol. just my thing. bought the commander last monday, firing this weekend. excited.

Metro arms
by: Doc Eric

As an update on the metro arms 1911 contender which I bought last year, I now have fired 6 thousand rounds using it, i had 18 FTF probably due to bad range ammo, the finish is still the same, the slide to frame fit is still tight, from 5 inch groups at 5 meter I can now shoot 4 inch groups at 20 meters. I compared it with a colt 1911 government model, cant see the difference in terms of quality.I bought an HS 45 and glock 17, I shoot better with the metro arms. The metro arms is so worth it, the price is so cheap, its even cheaper than the shoes I wear at work.

Thanks for the metro arms review
by: Anonymous

I bought the metro arms 45ACP 1911 contender the day after your post. Buying a kimber custom II for 66 thousand pesos($1400) is a hard pill to swallow. The metro arms hard chrome 45 only cost me 25T pesos($543). Im happy with my purchase, the pistol is more accurate than me, had 1500 range reloads thru it, had 9 failure to feed, most of it while racking the slide, was babying it. Will spend the 857$ i saved on ammo and shooting lessons. Thanks for your review.

To try to answer your questions comparing pistols, as I said in my review I have had the unique opportunity to shoot a great many of the available guns on the market. Police officers in my day were required to provide their own weapons and whenever we shot we compared them up close. This one from Firestorm shoots as well as any and better than most. My requirement for a pistol was that it always go "bang" when I pull the trigger and that it puts the bullet where I tell it to every time. I do like my guns to have a nice fit and finish too. The fit is more important though as that is what controls the function. I have seen many Colts and other more expensive guns that did not operate nearly as well as my Firestorm because of their fit and finish. I see no reason to pay extra for the same function, kind of like whether a person wants to ride a Harley when a Suzuki or Honda will do the same thing just as well, only for less money.

I got mine in Ottawa
by: Wayne

The Gun Guys gun shop is where I go when I look for anything. Their price may be a little higher than some of the internet sites but by the time you add on shipping it usually more than makes up for it. They have been able to get the Metro Arms 45s. They are good people to talk to too.

Metro Arms?
by: Watchman on the Wall

Wayne, where are these available?
I saw a gunshop in Wellington listing them for $420, but were out of stock. Goddard Gunnery wants too much, $499.
Metro Arms website is under construction at this time...

Firestorm comparable to a kimber?
by: Doc Eric

Im a begginer in target shooting. Im interested in purchasing a 1911 pistol, is the firestorm delux by metro arms comparable to the kimber, and paraordinance? If its comparable, i will be hesitant to spend extra money on a kimber and paraordinance, and will just get the firestorm.

Firestorm Commander 1911
by: Doc Ron

this is my first time to own a Philippine-made gun, my previous pistol was a Para-Ord .45, i am very impressed with the craftsmanship of this Firestorm Commander. I fired 1000 rounds from this gun and it delivered flawlessly. All I can say is this gun is very reliable and not heavy on the pocket.

Good gun
by: Anonymous

I can tell you that the one I own is a perfect fit and function 1911. All the Colt parts interchange if you want to change something. I have shot them all and this one does as well as any Colt I ever shot. Why pay double for a name?

Nice pistol
by: Richard

Nice to see some good quality 1911's popping up that are reasonably priced. This gives me the motivation to start seriously looking at one for myself...hope you will keep us updated on how it performs as you use it more.
