Glock 27

GLOCK 27

GLOCK 27

I have worked for a police department for the past fifteen years. In that time we have changed duty weapons three times. I started my career carrying a Beretta 92. About five years ago, the department moved to the GLOCK 17. Last year, the department gave the option to move to the GLOCK 22. I couldn't have been happier.

For concealed carry, I have a GLOCK 27 with an inside the belt holster. It fits comfortably on my hip (when I am wearing an un-tucked button-down or a light jacket) or at the small of my back (when I am wearing an un-tucked t-shirt). I usually have it in the holster with a 10-round magazine but also carry one or two of my G22 (15-rounds) full-sized magazines which fits into the subcompact and only extends an inch or two beyond the grip.

I have put over a thousand rounds through the GLOCK 27 and have only had a handful of stove pipes (usually when I have gone with cheap ammo). I own handguns in just about every caliber and, I just truly enjoy the all around usefulness of the GLOCK 27.

Webmaster note: Anyone who owns any gun, including a GLOCK that has a "hand full" of stovepipes in a thousand rounds, should have the gun checked out by a competent gunsmith or try changing the mags. A hand full of stovepipes is too many for a carry pistol.

springfield xd9 pin in top of slide
by: ted

This pin is a roll pin. If it breaks the gun is now a club and will no longer fire until you replace the pin. Thank about that ever time that hollow roll pin is hit. Our gunsmith has replaced it with a solid pin. GLOCKS don't have that problem. I work at a range and we rent about 70 different pistols and revolvers.I have never seen a GLOCK go completely down. You all so have heard that revolvers all ways work dont bet your life. Most the time when a pistol stops runing you can get it back runing but when a revolver stops it a gun smith an time. I seen and learn a lot from all our rent guns.

Glock 27 Stovepipe jams
by: Anonymous

I have owned and shot a Glock 27 for a number of years. I have fired at least 10,000 rounds through it and have never had a stovepipe jam.

Use good ammo and no problems.

cheap ammo
by: Anonymous

Were you using proper copper jacketed ammo or maybe even reloaders? Glocks have had a problem with such. There are replacement barrels and suggested ammunition for Glocks which can mitigate this kind of problem. Most of the really bad, kaboom-style mishaps occurred in the late 80s to early 90s versions of the Glock.

uh oh
by: Anonymous

i have a 1911 with only a few stove pipes after i have shot about 5000 rounds. not talking bad about a glock but if you have more than a couple in 1000 there must be something wrong. i would try some different mags. or get it checked out. (try cleaning the ones you have) and cheap ammo should not matter as long it is quality.

i used to shoot cci blazer and after more than 10,000 rounds in various calibers it was just about the most reliable.

Stovepipis
by: Ernie Kovacs

I am not a glock man,Just too much hype about them. I have a Springfield XD9 in 4" and sub comp.Have fired over 1000 rounds and yesterday had my first mishap.Had 1 round that did not fire. Have to blame that on the ammo and not the gun. As a christian I have always wondered about carrying. Glad I found yoour site.I am familier with most weapons as I am a retired State trooper .

A handful of stovepipes seems way too much
by: Jeff_H

I have 4 Glocks and each have had about 500 rounds through them -- zero stovepipes. I think it's time to see a gunsmith... good luck!
