Glock 19

by Bob Mayne
(Frisco, Texas)

My favorite is the GLOCK 19. Small enough to carry, big enough to fight with! I don't worry too much about capacity (although 15 + 1 is plenty) but about shootability. I can shoot it and control it very well.

This mid size (compact) equipped with Warren Tactical Carry sights is highly accurate. I've had the grip slightly reduced and nicely textured to fit my hand and a very small beavertail added to increase control, by www.gripreductions.com

I shoot it regularly in IDPA and in various training courses. It's the perfect compromise between full size and subcompact. I've owned at least 11 different handguns before deciding to stay with the GLOCK 19. Attached is an original photo and click or paste this link to your browser, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TqeZZ3myjQ, to see a video of me shooting it!

Glock 19
by: Bob Mayne

John L, congratulations on your purchase. I don't know much about the Ruger, but I've read a couple other reviews like yours and all 3 are positive.

Glad you have entered the concealed carry club. Protecting our rights to do defend ourselves.

Just practice with your new firearm. Make sure to give it a 1,000 round trigger job. All guns shoot a lot better after that.

All the best,

Bob Mayne

Thank you
by: Jon L.

Thank you for the review. I recently bought a Ruger RS9. But the Glock 19 was my second choice. They are nearly the same size, 4" barrels. Both are 9 MM. I went with the Ruger because it has an external thumb controled safety, the gun store was selling the Ruger for $100.00 less, and the Ruger is made in the USA. There you have it. I've only shot a box of 50 with no problems, so that's all I know. BTW I joined the USCCA and I'm enjoying the Forum. Of course I'm a christian and also belong to the NRA.
Greetings, Jon L.

Sights and holster, carry position for G19
by: Bob Mayne

I use TruGlo TFO's on my carry G19. I own 2 of them. The one pictured is primarily for competition, but some carry. The competition pistol had Warren Tactical black sights. I like the TFO's because they are highly visible in both daylight and nightime. Plus they are easy to pick up and get a good sight picture.

I've been through a lot of holsters, and have settled on the High Noon Mr. Softy. It's got a very good metal clip, soft leather, very comfortable and minimizes bulkiness. With a good kydex, leather lined belt, my G19 carryies very well and hides well.

I see you live in Plano, TX? If you want to meet me sometime at the Bullet Trap, I can show you my set up and let you give my TFO sights a test run.

Email me at packingcitizen@yahoo.com

Also, if you're new to concealed carry, I now produce podcasts (webcasts) on handguns and carrying. Very informative. Only takes about 40 minutes at your leisure. Go to www.handgunworld.com and have a listen.

I usually carry AIWB which means appendix inside waste band. In otherwords, over my appendix which is about 2 o'clock on my right side.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,

Thanks Bob

Thank you Bob for submitting the Glock 19 review. I am really enjoying mine but it is my first carry pistol. I have heard many Glock owners talk about replacing the factory sights. I would love to hear your personal take on holster type and carry position for your 19.
