Defense of Marriage Constitutional Amendment needed now

You would think that when 12 years ago, the U.S. Congress during the Clinton administration, officially defined marriage as the legal union between one man and one woman in the Defense of Marriage Act, it would have settled the matter of what marriage is legally. Clinton and congress did that, not because they were bastions of moral authority. They did it because they knew that the American people, irrespective of the noise gays make, do not want the institution of marriage in America redefined by sexual deviance.

Now, in defiance of congress, rogue states and activist judges are thumbing their noses at the will of the people and the Defense of Marriage Act and allowing same sex couples to define how marriage will be viewed. Up until recently, the only states that allowed same sex marriage were Massachusetts and New Jersey. But neither of those states influence policy in states nationwide.

Then came my favorite whipping post, California. The state from which flows the most useless and damaging trends, because from California they seem to race across the rest of the nation. In other words, California sadly affects the rest of the nation.

Now activist judges in the top court in California have defied the will of the people of that state and the federal Defense of Marriage Act and declared prohibition on same sex marriage "unconstitutional".

So what happens next? The governor of New York, which does not allow gay marriage, has ordered state agencies to recognize gay marriages from other states. Huh? He didn't take that position when Massachusetts and neighboring New Jersey allowed same sex marriage. Why now?

Simple. California. So here we go now with an American freak show where sexual deviants have a good chance of redefining marriage in America because the most influential and sorry state in the U.S. now allows gay marriage.

Here is where it stands today:
States that allow gay marriage:Massachusetts, New Jersey, California
Massachusetts also allows people from Rhode Island and New Mexico to get married there because those two states do not specifically prohibit gay marriage. But the one to watch as far as influence is concerned is California.

How does this growing scourge affect the rest of us? Well, get ready for our federal and state tax bills to go up to provide for the government aid to all the newly defined "married couples" who fall under the guidelines for federal help. And we can become defined as a nation who acquiesces to homosexuals who, though a tiny minority, may affect policy across the nation, in spite of the will of the vast majority of the people.

And because of California in particular, the federal "Defense of Marriage Act" is no longer sufficient to protect marriage in America. We must now have a U.S. constitutional amendment that prohibits same sex marriage throughout America.

That's the sad state of affairs as it lies now. Congress should act decisively and immediately to put this nonsense to rest with a constitutional amendment to protect traditional marriage in the U.S.
