Death of helpless, unarmed shoppers in Nebraska mall shooting

The Brady Bunch used to be very proud of the state of Nebraska as shown on their website previously showing Nebraska as a state with a B- rating with the Brady twinks. When Nebraska finally passed concealed carry laws, the Bradys took some solace that some Nebraska localities defeated a gun lobby effort to allow law abiding citizens to carry concealed firearms for personal protection. But on December 5th, 2007, nobody at the Westroads mall in Omaha was armed except for a madman who walked in and opened fire on all the wonderfully unarmed shoppers. By this time Omahans had the right to carry concealed weapons for self defense. But not in this mall which was, because of their policies, a gun free zone.

Now let's go over this very slowly so even a gun control twink can understand it. If we could magically snap our fingers and make all guns on earth disappear, perhaps gun control would be ok because nobody would have one to shoot anybody with. But that fanciful notion is a fantasy. And guns will forever be available through some means to criminals to shoot you and me with. So we should, as law abiding citizens be able to protect ourselves with at least the force a criminal will have available when they decide to rob, steal, rape or kill. If we are unarmed, criminals WILL take advantage of it.

The sickening Bradys seem to just be blind to the fact that the worst shootings in U.S. history have been in places where people are not armed. Criminals armed. Citizens disarmed. Perfect. For the criminals.

No, every law abiding citizen should get at least minimal training, purchase, practice with and carry a firearm. Then, when somebody like Robert Hawkins opens fire, a dozen armed citizens could kill him. Period. Case closed. The little creeps that inflict mass murder on society should not get the pleasure and privilege of killing themselves on their terms. They should be dead before the echo of the first couple of shots has disappeared.

A statement that possibly best illustrates how oblivious people have become to their own environment and unaware of what their local governments have inflicted upon them is wrapped up in the statement by Jennifer Bettger who had left the mall shortly before the shooting started. She said, "It stops you in your tracks. We're all asking why. Why here?" This is obviously a sheep of the state that simply does not know that it is an obvious place for a gunman to operate in mass murder. A mall that is by choice of the owners and business operators a gun free zone full of unarmed people. The lasting influence of gun lobbies in states where concealed carry is legal is residue just like this that cost no telling how many lives that may have been saved if somebody besides the murderer had been armed.

OK Bradys. Keep on insisting on the law abiding being disarmed. Liberal states keep on disarming or allowing organizations or localities to keep preempting state laws. And keep on watching as the criminals exploit the unarmed by killing them. You share the credit for the blood and the death right along with the criminal.
