Brady Campaign Displays Sick Logic Concerning SchoolsIn the Brady Bunch special report No Gun Left Behind the Brady Campaign criticizes the NRA’s push to allow teachers and other licensed, qualified handgun owners to carry guns on school property. The predictable, wailing and screaming of the Brady Bunch has included mention of a Utah law that prohibits local governments from prohibiting concealed handguns on school campuses. The Brady Campaign compares the NRA’s efforts to that of Utah as though they actually had a point. But here’s the reality. Since 1995, when Utah enacted the above mentioned law, there have been no, nada, zero, instances of improper use of a firearm on any school campus in Utah. In the Brady Campaign’s mention of theNo Gun Left Behind article, they make the unbelievable statement ,” Despite the massacre at Virginia Tech, college campuses are safer than the communities that surround them, precisely because those institutions have barred or tightly controlled firearms.” The Brady Bunch is telling it’s readers, forget the facts, forget reason, no matter that over 30 helpless people were gunned down in a gun free zone, you’re still safer disarmed. The article itself can be downloaded from the site, but is very long and predictably a diatribe encouraging the disarming of the American people with the assurance that we will all be safer. Here is a fact: Every piece of legislation that this abominable organization affects that disables law abiding Americans from legally defending themselves makes them that much more responsible every time a defenseless, innocent victim is gunned down. If you were in an enclosed building or room in a building, and you heard gun shots outside, how long would you like to wait for help? As long as it takes the police to get there? Or as long as it takes for an armed citizen in the building to protect you. Or better yet, the fastest way to protect yourself would be to draw your own gun.
