Dec 30, 2007, Conclusion to my Taurus 1911 broken
ejector
A while back I wrote here about my Taurus 1911
ejector
breaking off shear with the frame. The gun had performed flawlessly
through 1000 rounds and fired up through the last shot at a range
session. Then, when I took it apart to clean it, an extra part fell
out. The ejector.
I explored the thought of trying to get the old
one
(which was buried tight in the frame) out myself and replacing it,
sending it in to Taurus, or taking it to a well known local gunsmith.
I eventually settled on the gunsmith, knowing I
would
pay financially for my decision, but also knowing that he would fix it
and get it back to me within a week.
It went as expected. $92.00 at Fugett's Gun Shop
which
has been in business in Fort Smith for over 40 years. Old ejector taken
out, new Wilson Combat ejector installed, gun tested, back to me in 5
days. My option to send it to Taurus would have cost around $35 for
shipping, and the company would have had my gun for an indeterminable
amount of time, but no doubt at least 6 weeks.
I was happy with the results and for those results
was
ok with the cost. A good local gunsmith is a great asset to people who
shoot a lot. I do as much as I can to my guns myself, but when I don't
want my gun kept forever, and I can't do it myself, the gunsmith is the
answer.
My 1911 is up and running. And by the way, before
anybody begins thinking anything negative about Taurus guns, John told
me he replaces ejectors on guns costing 5 times as much as mine. There
is no predicting when an ejector will break on any 1911 style gun. It
may be after 500 rounds or 5000 or more rounds. He did advise me to
check my handloads, though all are loaded mild.
Again, I recommend Taurus 1911s for anybody
wanting a
top quality, feature laden 1911, that will pump out any kind of ammo,
without breaking the bank.
Dec 29, 2007, The GLOCK 19
The GLOCK 19 - A compact version of the flagship
9mm
Last weekend in between rain and snow storms, my
church group, Right on Target
had a great three hour plus shoot at a shale pit behind a friends
house. Of that time, about an hour and a half was spent shooting
shotguns.
Everybody who likes to do anything with guns needs
a
good shotgun. We shot 12 gauges, 20 gauges, 410s, autos, pumps, single
shot "survivors", and one Browning that was approximately 50 years old
and worth no telling how much money.
Kids, adults, men, and women can all find a
shotgun that
will fit them. A shotgun can be used for plain fun shooting,
competition, hunting, and they are one of the all time great home
defense guns.
And a shotgun can be found to fit anybody's
budget, from
my $200 Mossberg pump, to Browning limited guns costing tens of
thousands of dollars.
A pump shotgun of moderate cost is a good first or
lifetime gun for many people. A semi-automatic can add to the
experience by allowing a blast for every trigger pull.
All that and with the added bonus of a shotgun
causing things to blow up better than almost any other firearm.
So if you're new to guns or haven't shot much and
are
interested, consider making one of your first firearms a good shotgun.
For versatility, economy, and just plain fun the shotgun can't be beat.
Dec 22, 2007, New computer woes make me want pen
and paper
If you're a computer person, meaning you use one a
considerable amount of time for both personal and business, you know
what it's like to change computers.
I mean, who doesn't like the great looks of new
computers? Cool colors and designs, more hard drive room, more
processor power, more innovative media production capabilities, etc.
But when most people get a new computer, it's because their old one is
finished in terms of practical use or it's just plain fried. Mine was
the latter.
It will stay on long enough to pull files from it,
but
it's a goner. So, the great church I work for said ok to me getting a
new laptop. Now, that sounds exciting, and from a pure "get something
brand new" standpoint, it is. But from the standpoint of replacing a
machine with 2 years of work on it with one that has none of your stuff
on it, that's pointing to pure misery. And this was no exception.
I got this great new HP laptop with two 160 gig
hard
drives, a powerful processor, a big 17" screen......cool. And Windows
Vista. The first thing I had to do was upgrade from Home Premium to
Ultimate. Then the transfer and setup of programs, file transfers,
Outlook transfers, network mapping, etc, etc. etc.
So, the reason I haven't written here in a week or
so is
because I have spent 45 hours in 5 days working on getting this thing
set up. And finally I'm writing on my web site with it.
Now the really bad thing is, this is not my
personal
computer. The other one was. So, I am limited to what personal work I
can do on this one. sigh........
So, if you're here reading and thinking about
getting a
new machine, forget how shiny and new looking they are. Just consider,
"does this one work for me?" If the answer is yes, put off the misery
and keep it.
Dec 14, 2007, Stupidest Statement of the Year
Apparently, MSNBC can't stand to have a
conservative
morning show host without putting an idiot with him as a co-host to
interrupt him when he's making sense. Check out the stupidest statement
of the year on MSNBC's morning talk show, from co-host Mika Brzezinski.
Dec 14, 2007, Myth: Gun Control Reduces Crime
This is exceptional for a CBS documentary news
report.
Dec 13, 2007, Poster Woman for Real Heroes
Jeanne Assam went to church last week just like
all
worshippers at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She
attended church and worked a service as a volunteer security guard. She
was armed with her personal concealed handgun.
Now the news media is wording every report to
indicate
that Ms. Assam was hired to work security in the sevice, but that is
not the case. She was a volunteer. And the reason she was carrying her
own concealed weapon is that it is not a criminal offense in Colorado
to carry a concealed handgun into a church if you are a CCW permit
holder.
The Brady Center is also "sympathizing" with the
victims
while ranting against the gun the shooter used. They have to date,
significantly, and no doubt intentionally, omitted any mention of an
armed CCW civilian stopping this gunman from taking countless lives in
the church.
If you don't believe that the media and the Brady
Bunch
intentionally and deceptively word their reports and statements to fit
their bias, watch this story continue to unfold. One news report even
included a report of Ms. Assam being fired from the police department.
That report had nothing to do with the issue that she saved lives
through remarkable bravery, but what else are you going to do if you're
a gun hating reporter? You have to find some way to make a true hero
with a gun look bad. Instead the reporter looks like the idiot that
he/she is.
I recently wrote a piece here on what true heroes
are
and do. This lady fits the true definition. Jeanne Assam was a
volunteer carrying her own weapon. She heard rifle shots that she did
not flee from. She waited for the gunman to get in range and then came
out from behind cover. She began firing in the face of death to save
other people's lives. She shot accurately and without hesitation,
taking the gunman down where he ended his own sorry life. She saved
countless lives.
Now Mr. or Ms. reporter, or Brady Twink, you can
dig up
any trash you want about Jeanne Assam, or try to ignore her, but if it
came to protection of me and my family, I would rather have her around
than a hundred sniveling news personnel or gun control twirps who would
have no recourse but to hide and hope they wouldn't be the next to die.
Jeanne Assam deserves absolute respect and
unfettered
praise for risking her life to save a church full of people. She is our
Poster Woman for real heroes.
Dec 13, 2007, Home Safety Reality Check
The mother and her kids are in their home going
about
some routine things when all of a sudden a criminal smashes the back
door glass. An alarm goes off and the kids scramble away from the noise
as the mother goes for the ringing phone. The sound of the alarm causes
the criminal to run and the mother reaches the phone to hear a Brinks
security official ask her if everything is alright. When she says
someone tried to break in, Brinks asserts that they are sending help
"right now".
Here is a reality check and the problem with
"sending
help right now". The criminal comes in the house instead of running. He
grabs the mother and smashes her in the face causing her to drop the
ringing phone. He then stabs her multiple times until she stops
struggling, dead in the floor. The burgler strips her of her jewelry,
empties her purse and grabs a few convenient items on his way out. But,
he spots one of the kids and murders him so as not to leave any
witnesses. The unseen child is left to be a witness for police who
arrive ten minutes later. That's the problem with "sending help". The
police will be there in time to draw a chalk line around the bodies.
Here is a much more realistic scenario for an
acceptable
outcome. A burgler breaks the back door glass and comes through. The
kids run away from the sound as the mother ignores the ringing phone
(Brinks calling)and graps her GLOCK 23 from it's inside the waistband
holster. She faces the criminal who has a knife in his hand and puts
three bullets in his chest and stomach. The criminal recoils from the
impact, turns and struggles to get out of the house and dies in the
back yard. The police arrive ten minutes later to take statements.
Mother and children are safe.
While there is value in having a security system
for
your home, it won't protect the occupants from a home invasion while
they are home. The Brinks Security commercial plays on the "we'll keep
you safe" emotions of people too weak to take responsibility for their
own self defense and safety. It also does a disservice to people who
believe the silly scenario set up by the commercial.
Get a security system for your home. But don't
depend on
it or the police to protect you. Take responsibility for your own and
your family's self defense by being armed and ready should trouble come
knocking.
Michael Vick has now been sentenced to 23 months
in
prison for his dog fighting, i.e. illegal gambling + dog fighting +
cruelty - not just in fighting them, but in torturing to death the ones
that didn't fight well. And Michael has now "apologized" to his family,
to the court, said he used "bad judgement", and he was ready to "take
responsibility" for his actions. Now where is Michael's regret at
having committed monstrous cruelty on his animals?
This is my pit bull named Fletcher. He doesn't
fight at
all. He doesn't bite, or scare anybody. He likes people and he's not a
very good watchdog. Just a family pet.
In Michael Vick's world Fletcher should be
electrocuted, drowned, hung or otherwise tortured to death.
You see, what Michael Vick failed to address in
all his
"apologizing" is the fact that he is a heartless, cruel, unrepentant
jackass that inflicted cruelty on animals consistent with that of
serial killers on humans. In fact, animal cruelty is the way many of
them got their start. Michael Vick has not changed. He is the same
sorry infected sore on humanity that he was before he was caught. And
that is what Vick's apologies were all about. He got caught and every
word he spoke was in hopes that it would affect his verdict in his
favor.
And in the headlines where this story is today, a
few
lines about one of Vick's fans tells us that waiting outside the
courthouse before the verdict was read, was Ryan Eanes, 27, of Richmond
Virginia wearing a #7 Vick jersey. Eanes statement?: "We all make
mistakes," Eanes said. "I don't support the situation with the animals,
but I support him. I believe his apology is sincere."
Well, in every crowd we always have at least one
reminder that idiots are alive and well in America.
Dec 10, 2007, The Huckabee Rise
The tide keeps on rising for Mike Huckabee. He has
now
gone from 5th in South Carolina polls to the top of the heap in the
latest poll of likely caucus goers.
Huckabee has always been considered to be of high
integrity and an all around "good guy". But now with his outstanding
debate performances and the constantly changing positions of the other
candidates on everything from abortion to religion, Huckabee is gaining
ground in the confidence of voters that he is actually electable.
He was considered a long shot from the beginning
and
simply went along being himself, which has turned out to be better than
any of the others. This guy is a Christian....for real. He is against
abortion. He is able to take a stand against special gay rights,
abortion, and illegal immigration without hating any of the people
involved in those actions.
He has actually governed until he termed out in
Arkansas
which means he successfully ran a rather challenging state. This has
given him vast experience with budgets, educational issues, crime, and
dealing with a dug-in Democratic legislature.
Huckabee is solidly pro-second amendment, and for
the
rights of people to keep and bear arms. He is for "castle doctrine"
which declares that people who are in their own homes are not required
to retreat from criminals before taking even deadly action. He is a
true sportsman and conservationist.
As it stands now, there is no candidate that can
truly
claim to be a conservative Christian, and prove it by their lifestyle
or past actions except Mike Huckabee.
Keep an eye on Huckabee. In the absence of an
unlikely
verifiable scandal, it is very probable that Huckabee could keep right
on rising to the Republican nomination. At this point, I can see no
better candidate in sight.
Dec 10, 2007, Pray for New Life Church - Colorado
The great New Life Church in Colorado Springs,
Colorado
has suffered greatly in the last year. The church has a congregation of
over 10,000 and has been, up until this last year, one of the most
influential in America. It has been, because of it's unique small group
ministry, around which it is built, a significant influence on the
church I attend and work for.
In late 2006, it's remarkably influential pastor,
Ted
Haggard was removed from his position for sexual immorality following
his revealed encounter with a homosexual prostitute. Because of the
leadership structure, swift action, and no protest by Haggard, he was
replaced and the church set out to regroup. And while there was some
loss, the church did indeed regroup and remains strong today.
And then the shooting. Yesterday, Sunday, December
9th,
a madman walked into the church following a Sunday service and opened
fire leaving two now dead and others wounded. Now, this being a gun
rights site, most regular readers expect a strong commentary here, but
not this time.
This time, I'm asking the visitors to this site to
pray
for New Life church. What we have to remember is that: Ephesians 6:12
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness,
against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."
The struggles of New Life church have gone beyond
human
failure and gun issues. They are spiritual and we must remember as
Christians that what we don't see is where the battle really takes
place. And the only way to win in that world is through Christian unity
and prayer. There is a force that is unseen that is seeking to destroy
this great church.
So pray for New Life Church. And drop them a note
to let
them know you are doing so. Encourage pastor Brady Boyd and let him
know that you stand with him and his church.
New Life church will get through this too. Let's
ensure their success through prayer.
Dec 8, 2007, Mormon, Christian,
Politician.........
Well, since many of our nationally recognized
Christian
leaders seem to have lost their minds in the current political climate,
I guess I'll just rant about the truth from my little corner of the
world (for what it's worth).
James Dobson is all giddy about Mitt Romney's
speech
concerning his Mormon faith. It is amazing that Dobson says Romney is
still on his list of candidates that he could endorse. That would all
be ok except that in any other venue except politics, Dobson would
vehemently oppose Romney's religion and consider it a cult.
Now, to be clear, Mormonism is not Christianity.
It is
another religion with it's foundation rooted in the person of Joseph
Smith. If you don’t believe that, grab a Mormon missionary
from
their bicycle and spend a few minutes with them. Against all reason and
in spite of Smith’s track record of proven false prophecy and
flim flam activity, Mormons continue to insist that Joseph Smith is a
true prophet of God and hold him up above all others including Christ.
And not only is Romney a part of this bizarre belief with questionable
foundation, he has not even been a good Mormon to boot. If he had, he
would not have endorsed abortion in the past, only to change his views
now that he needs to become a “conservative”.
So now we have Pat Robertson, Don Wildmon and
James
Dobson all running in different and bizarre directions all backing
candidates of questionable ethics and religion which changes according
to which crowd they are facing.
If the Christian leaders mentioned above really
are
concerned with genuine, unchanged and unchanging Christian values,
there is a clear choice: Mike Huckabee. He is the only one of the pack
who hasn’t changed his beliefs or values to fit the political
climate. And now he is looking like a viable candidate. Hopefully,
Christian conservatives will become a greater and greater force that
will insist on integrity and consistency when it comes time for a
candidate to represent the Grand Old Party in the general election.
It’s finally occurred to me how we can
more
effectively evangelize the world. Instead of talking to people about
Christ, talk them into getting into politics. Because then, everybody
wants to be a Christian.
Dec 7, 2007, Death in Nebraska
Death of nine results from gunman opening fire on
unarmed shoppers in Nebraska
While I'm on it, I might as well get this one out
too.
Parents who take their small kids into public places and turn their
backs on them. No clue as to what they are doing or where they are.
For years our church put on an event that grew to
monstrous proportions. It was called Hallelujah Night
and was a fun event that substituted a safe Christian environment for
trick or treating. The event grew over a 20 year period from a small
gathering on our church property to it's last year in 2006 where it
drew an estimated 6000 people to the Fort Smith Civic Center.
I worked in the "information booth" the last
several
years, which was a clearing house for all the activities and to help
people asking questions. But the greatest activity in that information
booth centered on lost children. Last year (2006) there was not a
single 5 minute period in 2.5 hours where we did not have one or more
lost small children. The sickening attitude of parents was many times
that it was the kid's fault for wandering off, even when they were
dealing with 3-6 year old kids. The problem here was negligent, stupid
parents who, in that massive crowd could have lost their kids in a
second.
I exercise in a local park that has a heavily
wooded
area above it that is laced with trails where people run, mountain bike
and just take leisurely strolls. The trails take you to very isolated
areas out of the sight of other people.
One day while headed up a trail I saw 2 kids about
7 and
9 years of age with their small dog. They had walked out of the park up
onto a trail and into the woods....by themselves. Their mother was
busily exercising in the park taking a brisk walk with headphones on.
Amazing. How a parent can be so obliviously stupid is beyond me. Her
kids emerged about a half hour later from a different trail than they
went in. When they came out I heard the idiotic mother yelling at them
because they were "making her late". Mom didn't know how fortunate she
was. If I had been a predator following her kids into the woods, she
would have been lucky to get her dog back. Idiot.
And what do we constantly hear on the news when
people lose their kids?! "I just turned my back for a second!"
OK. Now listen carefully. Don't turn your back for
a second. Keep your kids. It's not that complicated.
Dec 4, 2007, Stupid parents - unsupervised kids
I've had all I can take reading and hearing
stories in
the news about kids who kill people, kill themselves and get killed by
internet freaks because their clueless head in the clouds adults
assigned to supervise them, i.e. "parents" are so stupid that they
leave their kids unsupervised at life in general.
The absurdity that brought this to a head is the
announcement that no charges will be filed in the case of Megan Meier
who killed herself after being dumped by fictitious boy on MySpace.
Even more bizarre is that the faux boy was the brainchild of an adult
woman who wanted to see what Megan was writing about her daughter
online. An unsupervised teen obsessively falling for a fake boy and a
grown woman pulling a 13 year old into an emotional quagmire that would
result in the teen's death.
The parents of Megan Meier are idiots. Letting
their 13
year old daughter spend unsupervised time online is the 21st century
equivalent of letting your small kids play in the middle of a busy
street.
The woman who made up the fictional boy, should be
charged with negligent homicide and her sorry, sick hide thrown in jail
for years. Instead, law enforcement stands lamely aside and says there
is nothing they can do.
Well, hopefully, the parents of Megan will file a
civil
suit that will effectively ruin the life of Lori Drew, the sick creator
of the fake boy who led to the loss of an unstable teenager's life. Not
that Megan's parents deserve one cent of profit from their daughters
death as ultimately they are the ones who should never have allowed her
to enter into the sick world of MySpace.
Parents, if you are allowing your kid to sit
around your
house with a laptop or computer in their room and surf the internet
without your direct supervision, please spare the rest of the world the
teary eyed "gosh we don't know what happened, she was such a happy kid"
that reveals what sorry parents you were when your kid kills herself or
is kidnapped by some predator.
Sorry for the long and poor sentence structure,
but
enough is enough. Parents, take away your kid's laptop. Put a computer
in a central place in your home and only allow internet use when you
are available to directly supervise it for any kid in your house under
18.
And no, your kid IS NOT different. God gave them
to you and they are under your supervision because they are kids.
Treat them like kids and take authority in your homes. If not, don't be
surprised when disaster strikes.
Dec 2, 2007, Huckabee leads in Iowa
Reports out of Iowa from the Des Moines Register
show
that the results of the latest poll of likely republican caucus goers,
Mike Huckabee now leads the field with 29% to second place Mitt Romney
with 24%. This is an amazing jump in the polls over a 2 month period
from back when Huckabee was considered to be a nice but non viable
candidate.
Here is something extremely telling about the
reason
Huckabee is rising in spite of a ridiculously low budget to compete
with the former front runners: One of the factors that was found to be
prevalent in voters decision to back Huckabee was that "Huckabee
outscores Romney and the rest of the Republican field as the candidate
seen as the most socially conservative, the most civil in tone and the
most principled."
It's encouraging to see conservative voters rise
to the
top of the boiling cauldron of ooze that has characterized the flip
flopping liberal-then conservative-then liberal-then.....well you know.
These voters are showing themselves to be a majority in Iowa revealing
that there is hope that the front running Giuliani was just early hype
that will wear off as conservative Republicans emerge in every state to
insist on a candidate that best embodies the moral fortitude and
conservative principles of the Republican party.
Delegates in every state better take notice of
what
conservative voters are saying. "Give us a candidate we that our
conscience will allow us to vote for in the general election."
Want to win against Hillary or Obama? Give
conservatives a conservative candidate.....or else.
Dec 2, 2007, Update on my Taurus 1911
Shoot! shoot! shoot! I took my Taurus PT1911 out
to the
range a couple weekends ago for one of our group shoots and the gun
performed as it always had, admirably. In the last couple of minutes of
shooting the gun developed an odd hesitancy to eject the shells.
When I got it home, took it out to clean it, an
"extra"
part dropped out when I removed the slide (noticing extra parts falling
out of your gun is never good). It was the ejector. Front pin broken
clean off. Up to this point the gun had performed flawlessly for well
over a year in regular shooting sessions with all kinds of ammo.
Now, an ejector for a 1911 should be simple enough
to
replace with an aftermarket part. But, with this being a Taurus, I am a
little tense. I'm taking it to a local gunsmith on Monday to see if
they can order and install an ejector that will fit this gun.
If it can be replaced with a known aftermarket
part,
great. If not, I'll have to ship it back to Taurus :( It is a true
Government model 1911 and many of the accessories and parts can be
interchanged with other guns. Hopefully, this will be no exception.
More after I visit the gunsmith.
Dec 2, 2007, CNN Shows What It Is
So, CNN didn't know who it's questioners were in
the
Republican CNN/Youtube....whatever debate?? Please give me a break. CNN
contritely apologized because they "didn't know" that retired brigadier
general Keith Kerr was a campaign worker for Hillary Clinton and a
Democratic plant?!?!?
CNN has now solidly planted itself in the camp of
a
Democratic activist organization. It and all of it's newscasters should
not be trusted on any issue, news story or commentary.
Now my disgust with newscasters and news
organizations
is pretty well known, but what I can't understand is why candidates
(which the news channels must have) continue to fawn and drool over the
opportunity to "debate" under the heavy handed rules imposed by those
organizations.
A good debate would be turning the candidates
loose on
each other and letting them verbally battle out issues without the
"controlled referee system" currently used in debates. The "rules" of
these sanitary 30 second to 2 minute commentaries result in candidates
with prepared canned answers to questions and even canned responses to
challenges that they know are going to take place.
What news organizations don't seem to understand
is that
we (the audience) don't want to hear from them or want them to referee.
We want them to get out of the way so we can see the candidates mud
wrestle in the mire of the real issues under real and unprepared
conditions.
Everything we see is canned and carefully
prepared.
There is no authenticity in any candidate's campaign that I can see
except for Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson. Every other viable
candidate is simply ready with answers that appease whatever audience
it is they are facing.
Political sleaze and media sleaze marches on.
Dec 1, 2007, An icon of our childhood is gone
I remember sitting around the tv in a friend's
house in
1969 waiting with intense anticipation for Neil Armstrong to step out
on to the surface of the moon. It was one of those rare breath holding
moments that you remember for the rest of your life.
But a single man in the 60's gave us more
excitement
than even that moon landing. And he gave it to us over and
over.....between healing of his broken bones. Evel Knievel, month by
month, year by year gave us reason to hold our breath as he seemingly
defied the laws of nature and took his motorcycles to ever more design
breaking limits.
People from all over the country gathered in
person and
watched by television as Knievel pushed the limits of his Harley
Davidson and his seemingly inhuman body. It was hard to discern whether
you were watching for the victorious landings after he had flown over
countless cars or buses, or secretly and shamefully watching to see the
spectacular crashes that left him broken and twisted on the ground.
Whatever your motivation Knievel delivered...every time.
He was probably responsible for more skinned
bodies,
smashed bicycles and broken childhood bones that anybody in history.
Boys (including yours truly), predictably, tried to imitate his stunts
on their hopelessly inadequate "Sting Ray" bicycles inevitably leaving
them in heaps....just like their famous model. I remember trying to
jump an "English Racer" over a ditch, just missing the other side and
ending up 30 yards out in the woods smashed into a tree....right after
watching a Knievel jump.
Whatever people thought about him, he gave you
your
money's worth, and never did anything that became "common". When he
couldn't push the limits any longer, he retired.
He passed away on Friday, November 30th at the age
of
69, having defied the odds of living that long considering his history
of bone crushing landings, hard living and bad health.
But, what Kneivel should be remembered for is that
he
was a person that during his time in history, always delivered more
than was expected. And today, that's something worth remembering.
Nov 29, 2007, About Political "Religion"
It's interesting how liberal and even some
conservative
politicians strive to play the "religion" card knowing that it's
important to believe something in America. Having no religion at all is
unacceptable in American politics. But, with amoral politicians having
no real conviction and willing to change their positions on just about
anything to get a vote, many of their religious activities must
accommodate their deplorable character. Enter the "easy Christian
churches", i.e. churches where you can believe anything and do anything
all in the name of Christian "tolerance"....but still claim to be
"religious".
For instance, Barak Obama claims to be a member of
the United Church of Christ".
Here are a couple of quotes from the by laws of the UCOC: "...and while
we find in Christ our measure for being human, we still honor
variations among men in their political loyalties, lifestyles, and sexual
preferences."
i.e. you can be a practicing homosexual and still be ok with us.
Digging a little deeper you will find that the church endorses same sex
marriage, clearly in rank disregard of any Biblical standard.
Another of the church's positions, this time on
abortion: The church affirms the "rights of choice to end or
complete a pregnancy,
i.e. abortion is ok with the UCOC. This reprobate organization is not
to be confused with fundamental, sovereign churches of Christ in
localities throughout the country. But such is the choice for many
politicians on both sides. Liberal churches that allow a politician to
claim "Christianity" without any of the moral trappings.
The nauseating sleaze in American politics is no
more evident than in our vote lusting hypocrites on the campaign trail.
Nov 28, 2007, Both Clintons Still At It
Bill and Hillary Clinton are living proof that
there is
plenty of stupidity in America, by the simple fact that so many people
still believe anything that comes out of their mouth. It still amazes
me how they ooze through life changing their position as convenient,
saying what is necessary to appease, and just outright lying.
Now, it's been screamed by conservatives "it's the
liberal, mainstream, elite media.......". No, it's not. The media
exposes their half truths, downright lies and criminal activity
constantly. What is disturbing is that so many of the American people
just don't care. America is becoming an amoral society full of sheep
pining for a socialist government that will take care of everything for
them. The Clintons are full of promises to fulfill that fetish and the
people who follow them don't care what horrible character issues go
with them.
Bill Clinton's latest outright lie is that he
"opposed
the Iraq war from the start". Bull. He verbally backed the president in
2003 in the president's stand against "weapons of mass destruction" and
praised his handling of the war.
Just one more lie that has been immediately
exposed by
the news media. But neither Clinton is afraid of exposure anymore
because of their vast experience with the American sheeple that just
don't care. Say anything to promise and appease and they will have
throngs of adoring, cow eyed supporters following them.
As to the Clintons, the pied piper got nothin on
them.
Nov 22, 2007, Chicago Illustrates The Futility of
Gun Control
Amadou Cisse, 29, attending the University of
Chicago,
and about to receive his doctorate was killed early Monday morning.
Killed by an assailant with a gun.
Within the hour that Cisse was killed, an
assailant with
a gun shot at another student who escaped, and two female
undergraduates were robbed. In a state that prohibits carrying a gun.
Go figure.
Now to those of us who have enough sense and
integrity
to be honest, we can see that gun control in Illinois results in
exactly what happened here. Law abiding citizens being disarmed and a
criminal with no regard for the law armed. And more innocent citizens
victimized.
Where were the Chicago police when Cisse was
killed?
Where were the campus police? Not anywhere in any location where they
could prevent a helpless victim from being gunned down by a criminal
with a gun. This is the result of believing police are responsible for
protecting the people, and that gun control will control criminal use
of them. Death of the innocent.
University of Chicago spokesperson, Julie Peterson
said
the school had taken “immediate measures to enhance
safety.” Fat lot of good that will do for Amadou Cisse.
Students, predictably having been conditioned to
believe
the University should protect them have been holding "candlelight
vigils". This is a typical college campus activity that means nothing,
accomplishes nothing, does nothing to protect them. Sheep bleating for
protection from a system ineffective and incompetent to do so.
So once again, on a university campus we have the
results of gun control, and gun free zones.
Nov 21, 2007, Mike Huckabee - The Current
Candidate to Watch
Dark horse republican presidential hopeful, Mike
Huckabee is seemingly coming from nowhere to challenge front runner,
Mitt Romney in Iowa.
While the news media is having great fun with
Huckabee's
endorsement by Chuck Norris, it is so far the most credible endorsement
for any true conservative in the Republican race. Other endorsements by
big name Christian conservatives have only served to divide the
conservative wing of the party because none of the other candidates can
demonstrate real Christianity the way that Huckabee can.Like him or
hate him, Huckabee is the real deal for what the Republican party has
historically based their platform on. And all of a sudden, he is a
viable candidate.
Now is the time for Christian psychologist, James
Dobson
to do something really substantial (other than threaten a third party
run) and throw his endorsement to Huckabee who is exactly what Dobson
wants in a candidate. Strong endorsements from major players in the
conservative Christian community could put Huckabee at the top of the
field, and give us a candidate we can confidently go to the polls for.
Aside from being a true Christian, anti abortion,
opposed to same sex marriage and special "gay rights", a fiscal
conservative, etc., Huckabee is solidly in the pro-gun rights corner.
He has a history that he won't have to cloud or change to suit the
election hubbub like Romney. Mitt has been a rank liberal and has
magically changed his views on abortion, gun control, etc. for his run
for president. Go figure.
Here's the deal. Huckabee does not have to change
what
he is or what he stands for to be a solidly conservative Republican
candidate. That alone should make every American at least consider what
a Huckabee Republican candidate could mean to the election, and what a
Huckabee president would mean for the strength and integrity of our
country's highest office.
If it could shoot you, ban it. If it could bite
you, ban
it. If it could keep you awake, ban it. If it could make you drunk, ban
it. And if it could make you too fat, ban it. That's the latest in our
country's list of absurdities; a Los Angeles (where else but
California) Councilwoman has proposed banning fast food restaurants in
her district in South Los Angeles because of what has been described as
an "obesity outbreak".
Now the last time I checked, obesity is not
contagious.
People get too fat because they eat too much of the wrong thing.
Period. So, obviously, the good councilwoman has proposed the wrong
ban. She should propose a ban on eating in South LA. Sure, that's much
easier than a bunch of city government regulations on restaurants. Just
ban the activity. That will make everybody in South LA get much
skinnier much faster.
Of course the psychological effect of an eating
ban
would lead to an "outbreak" of anorexia and bulimia that would have to
be studied by some committees to determine what to ban after everybody
loses the weight that the councilwoman is determined to facilitate.
But to take care of that, South LA could ban
vomiting,
and being skinny, forcing people to eat something and keep it down,
which would require a special election to overturn the eating ban.....
God help us. This country is so filled with nuts,
squirrels don't know which way to turn. Politicians at all levels that
propose this kind of nonsense, show that they do not consider
government to have any limits on where it can intrude into American
society.
And what is sad is the long line of brainless
sheep that
line up behind them in approval of this government intrusion into their
lives. America has to wake up, dump big-government politicians and
through elections force a return to a pure republic. If we don't
politicians will, by force of government, be controlling every aspect
of our lives.
Nov 20, 2007, A Day at the Range
A day at the range with the Right on Target
Shooting Group
Well, it's ironic, but since early Tuesday, I've
been in
one of the states listed in my "worst gun laws section", none other
than Illinois. The state that is reeking with politicians who exist for
no other reason than to take people's rights away by means of just
banning everything that doesn't feel warm and fuzzy.
And since I've been here, I can attest to
something that
should be banned in Chicago at least. Drivers. I've never been in a
more potentially deadly civil transit system than in this seething mass
of angry humanity. At stoplights, when a light turns green, the time it
takes to get your foot from the brake to the gas pedal is too long.
Somebody is already laying on their horn wanting you to move. And God
forbid you take too long at a toll booth...you're just dead. In the
last 2 1/2 days my life has been in continual danger from homicidal and
kamikaze suicidal maniacs determined to get somewhere quick or die
trying. If this is the way the people of the Chicago area act with
other things, maybe bans are good. I suspect if many of the drivers I
have observed were armed there would be mass shootings all up and down
the highway system.
The bright spot in my visit was the day and a half
I
spent at the fabulous Willow Creek Church where I went for Advanced
Small Group training. Willow Creek does Small Group ministry better
than any place in the country and is one of the few reasons I would
enter this asylum of angry motorists.
I head back to Arkansas tomorrow, where I will get
ready
to go out with the Right on Target Group to do some shooting on
Saturday. Trees, hills, friendly people, room to move and guns to
shoot. When I land in Fayetteville tomorrow, I'm going to kiss the
parking lot outside the airport like I was returning from another
country or even another planet.
Sometimes it does us good to go somewhere that
reminds us how good we have it where we are planted.
Dorothy, from the Wizard of Oz had it right when
she
clicked together the heels of her ruby slippers and said, "There's no
place like home."
Nov 11, 2007, GLOCK 17 Review
GLOCK 17 - a review of the pistol that made the
company famous
While there may be some objections to my criticism
of
some individuals on this web site, this site is not about personal
endorsement of "pet" religious or political personalities. People who
have the privilege of influence and publicity have a huge obligation to
use that for what is right for the American people.
Christians are the worst in the world at following
media
religious leaders, while turning a blind eye to some of their heresy
and activities that are damaging to the Christian community in general.
The only answer to this plague on real world Christians that live out
their lives in local churches across the country, is to stop
"idolizing" Christian personalities.
Fundamental Christians believe the Bible to be
God's
written word by which we set all standards of morality and lifestyle.
When any media personality or other national Christian leader departs
from the standards of that book, we should immediately disassociate
ourselves with them. We should not allow their antics to be applied to
all Christians as though they were our official "spokesmen". Everything
that they say and do should be examined in light of the Bible. Fawning
after them should be abandoned in favor of demanding that if we are to
support their ministries, they had better be "beyond reproach" and
represent the rest of us with the highest standards of behavior.
No, this web site is not here to endorse or reject
any
individual. It is here as an expression of what is right and wrong. I
will always acknowledge and endorse that which is right, and expose
that which is wrong, regardless of the personality behind the action.
If I did anything less, you would have no reason
to value this web site. You can find dishonesty anywhere.
Nov 11, 2007, Pat Robertson's Endorsement of
Giuliani Insures More Division
I'm sitting here trying to get my mind wrapped
around
Pat Robertson's endorsement of a pro-abortion, pro-gay rights, cross
dressing, gun control advocate, Rudy Giuliani. I understand why
conservative Christians sometimes vote for the lesser of two evils in a
general election. To keep a party in power that promotes the general
principles and beliefs of Christians, sometimes it is necessary to vote
for a less than ideal candidate. But for Robertson, who has for decades
has been the antithesis of Giuliani, to now slap his personal
endorsement on him, smacks of the bizarre. And that has been another of
Robertson's career traits which has been damaging to the Christian
community in general.
James Dobson, on the other hand, has promised a
third
party assault on the general election if Giuliani is nominated as the
presidential candidate for the Republican party. This would no doubt be
enough reason for a significant number of conservatives to jump ship
from the Republican party come election time.
Dr. Don Wildmon, chairman of the American Family
Association, and a Christian conservative heavyweight, has thrown his
personal endorsement to Mike Huckabee.
Now what these influential conservative Christian
leaders have done to this point is successfully divided the strong
conservative component of the Republican party and Christians in
general. This is something that throughout history we seem to be
particularly adept at; division among ourselves.
What these leaders would have done well to do,
would be
to have gotten together, worked out what they were looking for and all
given their endorsement to one candidate. What a huge effect that would
have had for a conservative candidate! Instead they have done nothing
but further divided an already beleaguered Republican party and
Christian conservatives in general.
So, as conservatives become more and more divided
and
weakened, things continue to look better and better for Hillary and for
an energized liberal political machine. What our Christian "leaders"
are leading us towards is a Democrat House, a Democrat Senate and a
Democrat President. Congratulations gentlemen.

Since this is a Christian site, please note that
there
is one curse word in this video. However, this is too hilarious to pass
up. This should be the Brady Campaign's signature video.
Nov 5, 2007, Law Needs to Protect Children From
Molestors
Yet another horrendous report of child molestation
comes
out of Atlanta this week where a UPS pilot from Washington state was
arrested. He was charged with 9 crimes including child rape, child
molestation, and sexual exploitation of a minor. The charges stemmed
from assaults on 20 victims, boys from 12 to 17 who were videotaped as
this monster assaulted them. In some of the videos the kids were crying
out for help and in pain.
This reinforces what most people in the world know
about
this type of person: they belong in prison for life or dead....long
before they reach the point that they are able to do this to more kids.
I don't know any more than what I have read about this case, but I'm
betting my bottom dollar that as this unfolds, it's going to be
determined that this guy has a long history of offenses against
children.
As a Christian, my life and belief system is all
about
the belief that God can forgive the worst sinners and that the power of
God through Christ is sufficient to change the vilest offender whose
conscience has not become so reprobate that it can turn to God for that
forgiveness. However, child molesters appear to fall into a category
that the Bible spells out in relation to this kind of deplorable crime.
Jesus, referring to children, stated that if
anyone
caused any little one to stumble, that it would be better for a great
millstone to be tied around their neck and for them to be thrown into
the sea rather than suffer the eternal consequences that God would
exact from them. The Bible in Romans chapter 1 refers to people whose
minds have become "reprobate" or "depraved", meaning that they have
gone so far in their depravity and their conscience has become so
seared that they cannot turn to God for help. It is too late.
Such seems to be the case for child molesters and
rapists. These are people who are most often beyond redemption. And for
those who continue to insist on "rehabilitating them", those should be
people who we should make take whatever atrocity their "rehabilitation"
projects inflict on our children after they are released again and
again from jail.
All of us who see this week after week in the news
know
where these abominations to mankind belong. Sadly, for decades judges
and courts don't seem to be getting the message.
It seems to me, there should be some way to hold
them accountable every time a "repeat offender" molests a child.

Nov 4, 2007, Stupid Laws in My Neighborhood
“No person, including anyone holding a
permit to
carry a concealed handgun, shall carry or possess a handgun or any
other firearm in any city park. This restriction shall not apply to
certified law enforcement officers as defined in A.C.A. §
12-9-102.”(Ord. No. 47-03, § 1, 6-17-03)
That Fort Smith, Arkansas ordinance effectively
says: A
law abiding citizen, who has gone to the time and expense, and proven
themselves to be law abiding, and proven themselves with the handling
of their weapon, and consequently is now lawfully licensed by the State
of Arkansas to carry a concealed handgun, including in state parks, may
not carry their concealed handgun in Fort Smith parks. But the
restriction does not apply to certified law enforcement officers, so
let’s see what that means.
It means a police officer, on duty or off, can
carry a
gun for their duty requirements or personal self defense into a FS
park. A police officer can take his or her family to a park with the
knowledge that should they be confronted by a criminal, they have an
effective means of self defense. It also means that a police officer
(on duty or off) can decide to pull into a FS park for a few minutes of
relaxation with their weapon in tow. A private citizen, legally
carrying a concealed handgun who decides to pull into a city park to
eat lunch or relax becomes a criminal as soon as their wheels hit the
driveway.
A concealed weapon permit holder who decides to
run the
trails behind Carol Ann Cross Park with their weapon legally carried,
and comes into the park, becomes a criminal as soon as the sole of
their shoe hits park property….unless they are a police
officer.
So, I suppose that the City of Fort Smith thinks people suddenly
don’t need their legally carried weapon for their defense
when
they enter the parks….unless they are police officers.
It is time this ludicrous and antiquated
restriction is
removed from the Fort Smith City Code of Ordinances as well as similar
restrictions in city codes nationwide. Concealed carry permit holders,
and other law abiding gun owners need to unite now to have these type
ordinances removed. We can start by contacting our city directors to
make our position known. However, having these removed will no doubt
require us to pursue either legal or legislative action. The sooner the
better.
Oct 29, 2007, The Parker vs District of Columbia
Case
The Parker vs Washington D.C. case has wide
reaching implications for gun rights
The stupidest statements in America this week
come,
predictably, from a spokesman for the Brady Campaign. His comments came
in response to college students protesting not being able to carry
legally concealed handguns on campus to protect themselves in the event
of an incident similar to the Virginia Tech shooting. But before I
quote the Brady Bunch, let's look at the no-brain necessary situation.
You are in a classroom with 30 other students.
Suddenly
a guy comes in and stands blocking the way out. He pulls a gun and
starts shooting and killing people in the room. Is it better to have
somebody in the room who can shoot back at the guy giving others at
least a chance, or is it better for everybody in the room to die one by
one with no chance for survival? If you picked the first option you
have a brain. If you picked the second option you are probably a Brady.
And it was an easy assessment for the mindless
Peter
Hamm, spokesman for the Brady Twinks. Mr. Hamm's profound response to
the protest was, "You don't like the fact that you can't have a gun on
your college campus? Drop out of school." So, with that one incredibly,
but predictably stupid statement, Mr. Hamm has pronounced that anyone
who wants a chance at survival in a school shooting should just drop
out before it happens. That's Brady gun control logic.
Mr. Hamm then ratcheted up his incredible
brainlessness
with a follow up statement that when someone pulls out a gun and starts
firing in a crowded environment, it's more likely that additional
victims will be harmed. Yeah I guess it could have been even worse if
somebody had shot back at the guy at Virginia Tech.
No, shooting back would have saved lives, because
even
if the shooter had not been killed, a diversion would likely have saved
many of the people who lost their lives.
And so, on goes the insane determination of the
Brady Campaign to create more and more victims across America.
To Mr. Hamm and the Bradys, if your organization
had
anything to do with influencing the gun-free zone policy at Virginia
Tech, then every last drop of blood of every last victim is a stain on
you and your mindless followers.
But you are all no doubt very self satisfied.
Because
even though 32 people lost their lives to a gunman at Virginia Tech -
there were no guns in the gun-free zone.....except two.....
Oct 25, 2007, Let's Be Realistic About Security
Contractors
Blackwater Security, the company among quite a few
other
security contractors working in the Middle East to protect dignitaries
and government officials, continues to be in the cross hairs of
numerous investigations. It should be noted that many of the
"investigations" are not official and have no merit other than to
accuse Blackwater of what the investigators think they might be doing
wrong.
Now here is where these security contractors get
their
contractors and employees: primarily ex-military special forces
personnel from numerous countries. All are highly trained in weapons
and combat. This seems to be an issue with some critics. So, what would
they have them send to the most dangerous location on
earth....psychologists?
And the tactics used by Blackwater seem to be an
issue.
Making Iraqis keep a 100 yard distance between them and their convoys,
many times by ramming vehicles, throwing objects from their vehicles,
and even shooting warning shots when they deem necessary. Seem extreme?
So how do you protect those whom you have been given charge of when
everybody that gets within 50 yards of you presents the possibility of
blowing you to kingdom come??
Now it is inevitable when the highly trained and
possibly some highly strung individuals get together on missions of the
type that Blackwater and other security companies have to undertake,
that their will be some issues and mistakes, possibly deadly.
Blackwater has been labeled as cowboys who shoot first and ask
questions later. But the environment in which they work leaves little
alternative to do their job, which is keeping their charges alive. And
the people who seem to appreciate Blackwater most are the people whom
they have protected in the past and are alive to tell about it.
BOTTOM LINE: 27 Blackwater employees have been
killed
protecting the people they have been hired for. Number of people
protected by Blackwater who have been killed: Zero. I don't know what
actual mistakes, business or otherwise, that Blackwater has actually
made. But I do know that all security contractors are working in the
deadliest kind of environment week after week, month after month, with
the sole objective of keeping people alive who other people are
determined to kill.
And if I had to go to the Middle East and had to
have a
company to protect me, I wouldn't want one shy about using whatever
tactics necessary to keep me alive. As to Blackwater, I would say
"bring on the cowboys".
Oct 23, 2007, Mossberg 500 Shotgun Review
The Mossberg 500 shotgun is one of the best values
in the world of scatterguns.
Oct 21, 2007, Let's Be Clear About What Doesn't
Matter
Part of the gun control twinks' endless ramblings
includes continuous assertions that various law enforcement
fraternities and organizations are for gun control in whatever form is
being proposed at the time.
I don't know about all that, but I do know that
here in
Arkansas, law enforcement officials seem quite comfortable with private
citizens owning and carrying concealed weapons. In fact I took my
concealed carry class from Don Mongold, who is a Sergent with the
Sebastian County Sheriff's Department and a S.W.A.T. trainer for the
department. Sgt. Mongold did not indicate in any way that law
enforcement is uncomfortable with law abiding citizens being able to
defend themselves within the parameters of the law.
Now let's just say that all the talk about this or
that
fraternity or organization is not blatant falsehood or manipulation of
facts. Let's say that every law enforcement agency in America is
against concealed carry by private citizens.
It doesn't matter. My right
to defend myself is not
determined by what organization or fraternity is "against it", even if
it is law enforcement. Police have weapons to defend themselves. And
they are not available to protect me and my family. They are only
available to take samples of the blood left behind after my family and
I have been bludgeoned, stabbed, shot, raped, etc. So it doesn't matter
whether they are for it or against it. If they are against it, I will
fight their position by all legal means and will not make the mistake
of believing the slogan on the side of their squad cars that says "To
Protect and Serve". Part of that may be true, but the protect
part.....that's up to me.
The second thing that doesn't matter is how people
"feel" about me carrying a gun. If I carry it, don't bother them with
it, and do nothing illegal with it, then it doesn't matter how anybody
"feels" about my right to defend myself with a firearm. On the Brady
site the words "do you feel safer knowing that the person sitting
beside you may be armed?" is echoed regularly throughout the text.
Again, it doesn't matter. My right to defend myself has nothing to do
with how anybody "feels" about it.
Police have guns. Military personnel have guns.
They
have guns because their enemies have guns. But what the Brady Bunch and
other gun control twinks expect private citizens to do is face the same
enemies that the police face without the weapons that the police have
to defend themselves. I don't think so. Country-wide concealed carry is
prevailing and gets stronger. And however anybody "feels" about it just
doesn't matter.
Oct 21, 2007, Governor Arnold (Terminator)
Schwarzenegger Signs Microstamping Bill
Well, a former actor turned governor who was one
of the
foremost purveyors of gun violence ever as an actor, has signed a
California (where else) bill requiring all handguns sold in California
to have the individual gun's brand and serial number imprinted on the
firing pin or striker. With his signature, Governor Schwarzenegger
continues a long history of useless legislation and trends starting in
California.
The "Terminator" has already admitted that the
bill will
have little, if any affect on crimes committed with guns. The idea is
that it will assist law enforcement with solving gun crimes by being
able to determine the make, model and serial number of a gun by the
empty casings found at the scene. Bull.
What the bill will accomplish is making the cost
of
selling handguns in California so prohibitive that manufacturers may
find it too expensive to do so. The technology would mean a cost of
millions in retooling the gun manufacturing process to accommodate
legal sales of handguns in California. With millions of guns already
out there, it will be ineffective but that doesn't matter. Because the
real intent of the law is to inhibit gun sales in the state.
But the law doesn't take effect until 2010. What
that
means is that there will be a mad dash in the state to both manufacture
and sell guns before the law takes effect. What the state seeks to
accomplish over the long haul will have the reverse effect for the next
3 years.
In California, it doesn't make any difference if
it
makes any sense. It doesn't make any difference if it's effective. It's
just important that politicians "do something" that makes people "feel
right". So, I guess, with California being what it is, the governor has
hit the bull's eye.
